Laborers from the Veteran's Village of San Diego began setting up a temporary homeless shelter in downtown San Diego.

Though business is tough, but warmth can sweet your heart easily. San Diego government decided to use a pair of temporary tents as the shelter of thousands of homeless people.

The tent is totally a 5,000-square-foot permanent shelter, which can  provide 350 beds and sheltered an average of 1,000 people each year. They were setting up for a long time period, after nearly 30 years of off-and-on use. Melissa Peterman, vice president of the agency's homeless housing division, said the tents had “exceeded their useful life of 10-15 years.”

San Diego — homeless population 9,116 — is one of 19 municipalities in the country that sheltered fewer people while its bed count and homeless population grew, according to numbers disclosed in the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s annual homelessness reports to Congress.
